Tim Austin has worked with the Aero Law Group since its formation in 2001 and is also a partner with the law firm of Betts, Austin, PLLC. Tim’s practice emphasizes tax planning for individuals and businesses and aviation taxation. In addition, he represents clients in matters of business formations, acquisitions and reorganizations. Tim earned his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida, his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Washington School of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington.
A Washington native, Tim has practiced in the Seattle area since 1975, first as a Navy JAG Corps as counsel for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, then as a Certified Public Accountant with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) and thereafter as a partner with the law firm of Graham & Dunn. Tim is also a former Mayor and former Council member of the City of Mill Creek, and past Chairman of the Board of Directors of BECU Trust Company.
Tim was a lecturer in Golden Gate University’s Graduate Tax Program from 1983 through 1993. More recently he has been a guest lecturer at the University of Washington and Seattle University Schools of Law.
Tim is a member of the Seattle Estate Planning Council and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.
