Ryan Nichols joined the Aero Law Group in 2017. His practice includes representing and advising clients in the purchase, sale, lease, exchange, financing, and operation of business and commercial aircraft, including fractional shares in aircraft. Ryan also advises clients on FAA-regulatory, federal income tax, federal excise tax, state sales and use tax, personal use, insurance, and risk-management issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Ryan was Corporate Counsel at Rightside Group, Ltd. At Rightside, he served as principal transactional attorney, lead attorney responsible for the second largest domain name registrar business in the world, and was responsible for advising Rightside’s executives and business units on a wide variety of matters, including intellectual property, data privacy/security, compliance, contractual relationship, sales, marketing, and employment related matters. Ryan also served as Corporate Counsel at Demand Media, Inc. At Demand Media, he served as principal transactional attorney, lead attorney responsible for two leading Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings, and was integral in the tax-free spin-off of Demand Media’s domain name services business into its own independent, publicly traded company.
Ryan holds a Juris Doctor degree from Seattle University School of Law, where he completed focus areas in Business Law, Intellectual Property Law, and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Legal Writing II while the law school’s legal writing program was ranked number one in the United States. He also holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in both Economics and Political Science from the University of Washington where he was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international economics honor society. Ryan is currently pursuing his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law.
Ryan is a member of the state bar of Washington and a Fellow of the World Affairs Council.
A fitness enthusiast, Ryan enjoys hiking, running, lifting weights, playing golf, and various other outdoor activities.
